This was a 3 week trip with Belinda designed to be a mix of birding, mammal watching, walking and sightseeing.
In a nutshell we spent 1 week on Vancouver Island and then 2 weeks doing a tour of the Rocky Mountains centered around Banff, Jasper and Valemount. On the drive east to the mountains we stopped in Manning Park and the wine region near Oliver and on the drive back west we stopped near Kamloops.
This is a link to the geo-tagged trip report on eBird showing all the locations I birded and the total list.

We flew from Gatwick to Vancouver via Calgary with Canadian airline Westjet (about GBP600 each) and took the BC Ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo to get on to Vancouver Island.
With the exception of Manning Park which we booked direct on their website all other accommodations werere good old Airbnbs.
We self-drove and self-guided. The car was from Avis and pretty reasonably priced at about GBP820
We found the cost of living a little more expensive than back home, especially groceries but fuel was about a quid a litre which was just like good old days over here!
Overall it was a fantastic trip with loads of good birds and mammals, out of this world scenery and we were blessed with blue skies for all but one day
