After breakfast we had a walk around the resorts own 'forest trail' and it proved to be a nice little 30 minute trail (although it took us much longer!). Best of all were a dsiplaying pair of Black and Yellow Broadbills but a Lesser Fish Eagle and Black-winged Flycatcher-shrike also showed nicely. Our walk took us back through the gardens of the resort which has a lilly pond and marshy area. Here a White-breasted Waterhen crept through the vegetation and a suprise Oriental Reed Warbler also showed nicely. Not quite as surprising as the Pintail Snipe I then flushed though! Also in the gardens throughout the day we had Pink-necked Green Pigeon, Thick-billed Green Pigeon, a Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot, 6 Blue-rumped Parrots, Spectacled Bulbul, Greater Green Leafbird, Malaysian Pied Fantails, Red-throated Sunbird, Crimson Sunbird, Yellow-rumped Flowerpecker and Javan Mynas amongst the more common species. In the late afternoon a White-bellied Sea Eagle and 2 Brahminy Kites soared overhead.
I ventured out for another walk of the forest trail for the last 2 hours of the day and this time had 2 Blue-throated Bee-eaters, 2 Greater Coucal, 3 Black and Red Broadbills and a Short-tailed Babbler.
