Gislingham Bees, 3 June 2020

I spent a very enjoyable couple of hours around the Suffolk fields yesterday evening.

Gislingham Charity Meadow held a huge number of Bee Orchids last year and this year there are fewer but still hundreds to be seen. There are loads of good, healthy looking plants but also many that are shrivelled and brown due to the drought. Pyramidal Orchids there are just starting to flower.

Nearby I checked another couple of spots - one contained just 7 Bee Orchid plants in varying states of health but the other held what I wanted to see - 3 Bee Orchids of the chlorantha variation.
