Buckenham Marshes Pec Sands, 5 October 2018

A pleasant hour and a half in the autumn sun at Buckenham Marshes this afternoon.

On arrival the 2 juv Pectoral Sandpipers were obligingly on show and being watched by Murray Smith. Also on the fishermen's pool were 1 Dunlin, 18 Ruff (including a nice white-headed individual) and a Snipe flew over. Behind us on the grazing marsh were 15 Pink-footed Geese and a couple of Chinese Water Deer. 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Red Kite and 1 Marsh Harrier were also evident. A small group of Wigeon flew onto the pool which seemed to be the cue for the Pec Sands and then all the other waders to fly east and come down on the grazing marsh in the distance.
